A 27-year-old Kenai man will serve time in a federal prison following his conviction for possessing child pornography. Phillip Miller pleaded guilty last September to possession of child porn - access with intent to view. Monday, Miller was sentenced to serve six years in prison, followed by a lifetime term of supervised release.
Anchorage Police say they are investigating a homicide in West Anchorage. Around 9:30 p.m. Sunday evening APD released a public information alert that there was a "large police presence in the area of Benson to Tudor and Minnesota to Arctic for investigation.
Alaska State Troopers say a Hydaburg man attempted to sexually exploit another person through a practice described as “sextortion.” According to the AST daily dispatch log, 32-year-old Eric Adams was indicted by a Grand Jury on Thursday. Investigators say Adams threatened to expose confidential information of another person, “by obtaining items of a sexual nature.” AST wrote the investigation began in April of 2017.
Anchorage police say three people are facing charges after two groups of people engaged in a firefight outside the Northway Mall Saturday, with at least two other suspects still at large. APD spokesman MJ Thim said that shots were fired at about 12:30 p.m. near Shockwave, a trampoline park for children at the mall. Nobody was injured, but several vehicles outside the mall were struck by gunfire.

A 24-year-old Alaskan has been arrested in Nebraska allegedly carrying 227 pounds of marijuana. The marijuana has an estimated street value of $681,000.
Anchorage Police say 25-year-old Jacob Orr crawled through a window into a victim's home a number of times this summer, sometimes stealing things. Police say Orr has a no-bail warrant for violating a domestic violence restraining order related to those summer incidents. They say he also has a second warrant for failing to appear in court.

Magnitude 5.7 quake hits central Alaska - USGS
A Fairbanks man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after his conviction for raping a woman in 2016. 37-year-old Darrin Dunn was arrested in November of 2016 on charges that he raped a woman in June of that year. Dunn served in the Alaska National Guard as a member of the 297th Military Police Company

Two people died Saturday morning after their snowmachine struck a moose near the Kuskokwim River village of Aniak, according to Alaska State Troopers. Tim DeSpain, a troopers spokesman, said the collision near Aniak’s airport was reported to troopers at about 7 a.m. Saturday.
