Mark Allen Mitchell was assaulted at about Sunday at the Club Manchu bar in South Fairbanks. Brett Matthew Gilbert, 49, is charged with first-degree murder in Mitchell’s death. A 5-year-old boy riding a bike on Saturday afternoon in Bethel was struck by a SUV and killed, Bethel police said. Police are investigating. He is believed to have continued down the Tanana River. He is aboard a red, single-seat kayak.
